Congrats Cheyenne!!

Cheyenne Wright is now a member of the FFA Allstate chorus. She is a new student of mine who is a senior at Velma High. I have loved our early afternoon lessons. She got over a bunch of nerves and auditioned a couple of weeks ago for this honor's chorus. We were so excited that see made it!!

Federated Honor Recital

Feb 13th at First Methodist Church in Duncan we attended the Meeting of Duncan Federated Music Club. I've done the recital a couple of years now but this year they did "the collect". A gathering reciting. It was so moving that I asked for a copy of it. So here's a pic of Brooklyn Bartling (guitar/velma- played Arpeggio, in purple above) and Leann Chapman (voice/Comanche- sang All the Pretty Little Ponies, blond with a black shirt).

We praise and thank Thee, Father, for the gift of music. Through us, as channels of thy grace, may this blessed legacy be shared with all mankind.

Grant that we may exemplify in our own lives the harmony of Thy great purpose for us.

Give us magnitude of soul and such understanding hearts that we who make music may be as players upon rightly tuned instruments responding to Thy leading.

Let us with renewed consecration dedicate ourselves to the purpose of our Federation to bring the spiritualizing force of music to the inner life of our nation. Open our minds that divine knowledge and wisdom may teach us how best to execute our pledge.

Crazy Winter Weather & Ensemble Recitals

As of today some of my students still don't have power- it's been a crazy winter!

We do have the ensemble recital coming up on Feb. 14th at 2pm at First Baptist Church Duncan. This recital is sponsored by Stephens County Music Teachers Association and will involve students from all over the county. It has always been my favorite recital. I usually get to play with my students and I just love the adding the extra parts and the team work involved.

2 of my students will also be participating in the Federated Music Club Recital on Feb. 13th at the First Methodist Church in Duncan. Federated Music Club is a group of music enthusiasts that meet monthly. President Winifred Bailey does an excellent job with the club and they host a student recital once a year. Each teacher can only bring 2 students and there are many different instruments involved- piano, voice, guitar and violin are the most common. It's a lovely recital and they have a reception afterward.

new guitar!!!!

I got a new guitar this weekend and am so thankful, this one's gonna sound awesome at the next recital
